How a firm uses Keel, start to finish.

The explainer runs 74 seconds. The seven steps below cover the rest, in the order a firm meets them.

The seven steps

  1. Import

Upload each company's registers as Excel or CSV (export Gen CompLaw registers to Excel first). Keel maps the columns and lists every mismatch it finds, such as a folio with no allotment date or a transfer that would leave a holding below zero.

  2. Review

Your team goes through the mismatch list and decides each one. Nothing is changed without a person choosing it, and each decision is recorded.

  3. Seal

Choose the day the book opens on Keel. Keel records the opening position and seals every entry from then on. Nothing before that day is vouched for, and every extract says so.

  4. Record and correct

Record allotments, transfers and appointments as they happen. A mistake is fixed by a correction entry that points at the original and states the reason.

  5. Give a seat

Grant an auditor, investor or lawyer read-only access to the registers they need, ending on a date you choose. Every view is logged.

  6. Build a pack

An inspection pack lists the entries, their fingerprints, the head fingerprint, the algorithm and the extract reference, to enclose with a certificate under s.63(4) of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.

  7. Renew or leave

Renew per company each year, or export the whole book with its fingerprints at any time. The export checks without Keel.
